The Graton Day Labor Center does not have an immigration status requirement of participants of the center. As a matter of policy, we view the current immigration laws of the United States and Mexico to be outmoded and hypocritical. We recognize that our country’s economic and political policies have helped contribute to hardships in other countries, further encouraging working people to seek work in the US to help support their families back home.
We are trying to live by the adage: “Think Globally, Work Locally”
While our efforts in Graton will do little to solve the global economic and political inequities, we see it as our mission to assist day laborers and their families to live and work with justice and dignity.
