Employer Outreach

• Essential to our efforts to organize the day labor hiring process, under the roof of the new day labor center is our ability to attract employers to hire at the center rather than off the street.
• There are a variety of advantages of hiring at the day labor center over hiring off the street:
• Quality of work.Our day labor center collects and tracks employer feedback on level of satisfaction and skill level. We use this information to provide constantly greater levels of satisfaction and improved matching of worker skills with employer needs.
• Translation. We work with employers who speak little or no Spanish to match the language needs of the employer with the abilities of the worker. In addition, we provide translation services to help the laborers and employers to better understand the expectations of the work.
• More training. The laborers at the day labor center are more likely to have had job training and English training during the hours while waiting for employment.
• Women in the workforce. Female workers are available at the day labor center, where they feel safer than searching for work on the street corner.
